Introduction

The Irene Dramatic Society, or IDS as we like to call it, is a community theatrical society based in Irene, Centurion, South Africa.

Started in 1957 (or 1958 according to some sources) the society has bravely braved the onset of television, video, computers and many other forms of entertainment. We've outlasted most of the other amateur groups and are looking forward to being around for many, many, many, many years to come. What is our secret? Beats me!

What do we actually do?

At present we are presenting four shows a year. We strive for a balanced program of shows, trying to get as many people involved as possible. Comedies, musicals, revues, murder dinners, thrillers. These are some of the genres we've attacked in recent times.

Our members come from all walks of life, from doctors to students, from IT professionals to retirees. Most of our members have never worked professionally on the stage, but do this for the laughs (or the lulz if you're into internet speak) The bottom line is that we're always looking for new members to stride our stage.

And lastly, we're also always looking for more audience members.
